Myth: The Fallen Lords is the first game in the real-time tactical-based Myth series. It was revolutionary in its time for being the first truly real-time game that emphasized squad based strategy and tactics against a scripted artificial inteligence. It also was the first to offer an extensive multiplayer system by which players could gather, create, and play in ranked and unranked game play against other players via a central matchmaking server.

Support for Myth ceased when the original Bungie.net server closed. Mariusnet is a community-based server for all three Myth games which is still operational as of this writing. In 2003, FlyingFlip Studios secured the source code for Myth and released an update that included support for Macintosh OS X and later versions of Windows but was never widely adopted.

ElusiveMind is please to offer the Myth Classic game which is true to the original v1.3.1 release of Myth but optimized for the latest versions of Windows and Mac OS X. These games can be played on the Mariusnet server along side other Myth titles.

Tech: Myth was written in procedural C. It was built upon the source code of previous Bungie games and featured a lot of code from those games. During the upgrade process, the rendering engine was converted to OpenGL. While the "software rendering engine" remains, the other rendering engines have been removed.

Development: Myth Classic is still under development and it's release is forthcoming. It will include cut-scenes converted to QuickTime from the original Smacker files.
